A Tribute to A King: Bernie Mac
At Hartbeat I was tasked to create key art on-behalf of the Bernie Mac Foundation that would encapsulate the legacy that Bernie Mac left behind. I worked through with many concepts and ideas but came to find that his "body of work" is what I would focus on.
This was one of many photos that was supplied by the Bernie Mac Foundation that I felt captured his beautiful personality as not only as a comedian but his light as a human.
After a few initial pencil sketches and some guidance from the CD. I created some loose & fast to get some ideas out while listening to old Bernie Mac content.

I worked with the Bernie Mac Foundation and created a few options to talk through.
The Final
Utilizing a script he wrote I selected a modern yet legible cursive typeface that works well as the title and as a design element.
